Q & A
💬 1. What does women's empowerment mean to you?
Macy So:
“Women empowerment to me means having a sense of self-worth and being able to determine our own choices. It’s important to be able to stand up for yourself, to show up, to advocate for yourself! With social media, it’s easy to feel like you're not good enough. But if you work hard, your time will come—and when it does, embrace it.”
💬 2. What skills are essential for someone in your role?
Macy So:
“As a Technical Program Manager, you’re constantly in meetings and working cross-functionally. You need to convince teams that a product is worth building. The three skills I would focus on are: Leadership, Communication, and Time Management.”
💬 3. How have you dealt with imposter syndrome?
Macy So:
“During my internship, I led meetings but didn’t feel like I was doing well, even when my manager said I was. I struggled with imposter syndrome and felt like I wasn’t fit for the job. But it pushed me to improve my public speaking. Over time, I got more opportunities to lead—and I’m still practicing.”
💬 4. What’s your best advice for breaking into product management?
Macy So:
“Soft skills like leadership and communication are key. If you’re having trouble landing an internship, build a project. Make your own opportunity. Start a passion project, analyze existing products, and improve them. And during interviews—show your passion!”
"It’s important to be able to stand up for yourself, to show up, to be able to advocate for yourself!"
