🌟Meet Toni Pringley: A Leader in Community, Sustainability, and Empowerment

Toni Pringley is a DEIB Specialist at Tiffany & Co., where she leads global initiatives like Tiffany Cares and the Employee Resource Group network. Born in Atlanta and raised across various cities through her military family background, Toni brings a community-centered, adaptable perspective to her work. She is also the founder of SWAPPED, an organization that promotes sustainability and connection through curated clothing swap events that support local nonprofits. Toni is passionate about empowering others, redefining the shopping experience, and building spaces where fashion, community, and philanthropy come together.

💬 What does women's empowerment mean to you? Why is it important?

Toni Pringley: To me, women empowerment is like giving each woman a sparkling wand and saying, "Go forth and create your own magic!" It's about celebrating the freedom and ability for every woman to craft a future that's authentically hers—a future where she's the author of her own narrative, complete with plot twists, triumphs, but most importantly, many wins!

Why is it important? Well, imagine a world where every woman feels empowered to pursue her passions, make her voice heard, and support others along the way. It's not just about breaking glass ceilings; it's about shattering stereotypes and creating a vibrant mosaic for her life. When women are empowered, they don't just change their own lives—they uplift entire communities and inspire future generations to dream big and aim higher!

💬 What advice would you give to other women looking to succeed in your industry? What qualities are the most important and what skills should they focus on developing?

Toni Pringley: One of the most valuable skills I've acquired throughout my career is to confidently "manage up." If I'm given a broad selection of competing tasks and deliverables, even if I know what should be the top priority, I always ask my supervisor to tell me what my main focus should be each week. That way, I'm asking them to take part and buy into what I'm working on, and when I deliver that completed project, they feel like I met an expectation they set. I'd also encourage women to not be silent, even in meetings with executives or technical experts. Ask questions, volunteer to help with research, or just give a colleague kudos. Don't give into the impulse to be quiet or deferential. Be heard!

💬 Tell us about a woman who has influenced your career and how their guidance has impacted your professional growth.

Toni Pringley:  A woman who has profoundly influenced my career journey is my mom. Her entrepreneurial spirit has been a guiding light throughout my life. From starting her own businesses to overcoming breast cancer, she has shown me that resilience and determination are key to navigating life's challenges and pursuing one's dreams.

My mom's journey hasn't been without its obstacles, but she has always approached each chapter of her life with optimism and a fearless pursuit of her passions. Recently, she decided to go back to school to pursue her BFA—a decision that embodies her belief that learning and growth are lifelong pursuits.

In essence, my mom is a source of inspiration and an example of strength and wisdom that continues to fuel my professional growth. Her belief in embracing life's chapters with courage and resilience continues to guide me as I strive to make a meaningful difference in my career and beyond.

💬 How do you handle work-related stress and pressure, and what techniques or practices do you use to maintain your well-being while pursuing a successful career?

Toni Pringley: Correctly handling work-related stress and pressure is a crucial aspect of maintaining well-being while pursuing a successful career. For me, navigating these challenges involves a combination of supportive relationships, self-reflection, and intentional practices.  Firstly, I lean heavily on my friends who are in similar phases of their careers. We share insights, give each other advice, and provide much-needed encouragement during tough times. My friend group is like having your own personal board of advisors, but with funny/relatable memes and a lot of pep talks!  Additionally, journaling has become a cornerstone of my well-being practices. To me, journaling is not just writing—it's like a heart-to-heart with yourself. Pouring out all the feels, scribbling down those aha moments, and referring back to old entries for gems of wisdom you can use today.

💬 Can you share any lessons or insights you have gained from failures or setbacks in your career, and how you have turned them into opportunities for growth and learning?

Toni Pringley: Throughout my career, I've come to appreciate failures and setbacks not as obstacles but as opportunities for growth and transformation. One of the most profound lessons I've learned is that setbacks often pave the way for breakthroughs. What may initially seem like a setback can, in fact, be a setup for something greater.  Some of my boldest and most innovative ideas have emerged during challenging moments—times when others might perceive as setbacks. Instead of being discouraged, I've learned to lean into these moments with optimism and curiosity. I've discovered that they often catalyze my creativity and push me to think outside the box.  For instance, there have been projects that didn't go as planned or opportunities that didn't materialize. Rather than dwell on disappointment, I've used these experiences to reassess my approach, identify areas for improvement, and pivot towards new possibilities. Each setback has been a valuable lesson in resilience, adaptability, and perseverance.

💬 Can you share any strategies or tips for building a successful network and fostering meaningful professional relationships that have helped you in your career?

Toni Pringley: I like to think of networking similar to connect-the-dots, but with people! My advice is to attend a few professional events each month—yes, even those outside of your field—because you never know where your next big opportunity might pop up! It’s also important to nurture your existing network. While connecting with top executives is valuable, don’t overlook your peers at your own professional level.

I also absolutely love being a professional networking matchmaker—if I’m chatting with someone and realize they have a lot in common with someone in my network, I’m immediately like, “Oh my gosh, you have to meet my friend! You two have so much in common and will totally hit it off!”

And remember, networking isn’t a “what’s in it for me” game; it’s about teaming up and helping one another thrive as you navigate your careers together!

💬 What strategies or tactics do you use for setting and achieving your career goals, and how do you stay motivated and focused on your objectives?

Toni Pringley: Ok, I’m definitely a dreamer with a million big ideas swirling around all the time, which can make it tricky to stay laser-focused! To keep myself on track, each year I set 10 major goals for myself and create a vision board, which I then set as my phone background—nothing like a daily dose of inspiration! I also break those big goals into mini monthly targets because, let’s be honest, tackling a giant goal can feel overwhelming, but smaller milestones are like little victories that keep the momentum going. Staying motivated is all about celebrating those mini wins and constantly reminding myself why I started in the first place. Plus, it’s a lot of fun to see how all the dots connect as I make progress!

💬 What motivated you to choose your current career field, and what do you find most fulfilling about your work?

Toni Pringley: SWAPPED was born from my love for pre-loved clothing and my commitment to giving back to my local community!  Fun Facts: about 70 percent of my closet is second hand clothing!

Through SWAPPED, I wanted to create a space where swapping clothing and accessories goes beyond just refreshing your wardrobe—it’s about creating a community that champions sustainability and philanthropy.

The most fulfilling part? Seeing people’s faces light up when they find a gem in their swap and knowing we’re all part of a movement that celebrates fashion, community, and the joy of giving clothes and accessories a second chance!

💬 How do you balance your career ambitions with other aspects of your life, such as family, hobbies, and personal well-being?

Toni Pringley: Balancing my professional life, career, friendships, and wellbeing can be quite the juggling act, but I've found that integrating them all together helps everything flow more smoothly. For example, I love taking walks after work around the city and during these walks I always call up my sister, mom or my bestie and we chit chat and catch up on our lives. Not only does this help me stay connected with my loved ones, but it also allows me to unwind from the day and take care of my wellbeing by being active. It's all about finding those simple moments where different aspects of your life can come together and support each other.
