Jacqueline Ndjib: Women empowerment means creating opportunities, providing support, and removing barriers so that women can achieve their full potential. It’s about ensuring equal access to resources, opportunities, and respecting each woman’s voice and choice.Empowerment is crucial because it fosters equality and fairness, and leads to more diverse and innovative communities.Empowering women also challenges and changes the systemic inequalities that have persisted over time, ultimately leading to a more just and balanced world.

💬 What advice would you give to other women looking to succeed in your industry? What qualities are the most important and what skills should they focus on developing?

Jacqueline Ndjib: For women aiming to succeed in influencer marketing, learn to always ask questions to understand the "why" behind strategies, as this deepens your learning and builds confidence. While execution is crucial, understanding the reasoning behind actions is equally important. Focus on developing strong relationship-building skills, analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data to extract insights, and maintaining adaptability to stay current with trends and adjust to evolving landscapes.

Jacqueline Ndjib: One of my favorite mentors came from my first internship at Ogilvy. She treated me as if I were a seasoned professional, which boosted my confidence and encouraged me to push beyond my self-imposed limits. Her teaching style emphasized approaching every project with experience and, when needed, asking questions to overcome challenges.

💬 How do you handle work-related stress and pressure, and what techniques or practices do you use to maintain your well-being while pursuing a successful career?

Jacqueline Ndjib: To manage work-related stress and pressure, I prioritize regular breaks and scheduled downtime, such as taking walks to recharge. I also communicate openly with my team and supervisors about my workload and deadlines, which helps manage expectations and ensures I receive the support I need. Additionally, I am intentional about incorporating mindfulness practices and personal time to recenter myself.

Jacqueline Ndjib: Failures and setbacks in my career have taught me the importance of asking for clarification and not fearing questions. Early on, I was hesitant to seek help or ask for more information, which sometimes led to misunderstandings and suboptimal outcomes. One significant setback made me realize that seeking clarification is not a sign of weakness but a crucial step in avoiding mistakes and improving performance. By learning to ask questions and clarify expectations proactively, I’ve been able to address issues more effectively.

Jacqueline Ndjib: To build a successful network and foster meaningful relationships, I focus on being genuine and showing real interest in others. Connecting over shared interests and being yourself helps form authentic bonds. It’s valuable to send a simple introduction message and, when you have the opportunity to talk, prioritize learning about the other person!

💬 What strategies or tactics do you use for setting and achieving your career goals, and how do you stay motivated and focused on your objectives?

Jacqueline Ndjib: Call it cliché, but I'm a sucker for creating a mood board and setting goals every new year. I make the process fun, which helps me hold myself accountable. I always look forward to comparing my progress and goals at the end of the year and finding ways to celebrate my achievements. I am intentional about rewarding myself when I hit milestones while also practicing giving myself grace if things take a bit longer. At the end of the day, simply striving toward something is an accomplishment in itself!

💬 What motivated you to choose your current career field, and what do you find most fulfilling about your work?

Jacqueline Ndjib: I've always been drawn to marketing due to my passion for creativity. As a people person, I find interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds one of the most rewarding aspects of the job. The challenge of discovering the intersection between consumers and brands through strategic insights allows me to engage multiple facets of my skills. I particularly enjoy using my love for storytelling to weave everything together, creating compelling narratives that resonate with audiences.

💬 Can you discuss any specific trends or changes in your industry that you see impacting careers, and how you are preparing to adapt to these changes?

Jacqueline Ndjib: I can definitely see an increased focus on authenticity, with brands prioritizing influencers who demonstrate genuine connections with their audiences. Personally, I believe that connection and reliability should always be at the core of marketing. Additionally, the use of augmented reality and virtual influencers is expected to grow, offering innovative ways to engage audiences and encouraging marketers like myself to get creative in reaching new demographics

Jacqueline Ndjib: For individuals starting their careers or considering a change, my advice is to focus on a few key areas based on my experiences. Start by talking to people who hold positions you aspire to and gather their insights on entering the industry. Build your resume by including relevant projects in your area of interest. Additionally, explore programs designed for individuals transitioning into new fields, such as rotational or apprenticeship programs, which provide a supportive environment for beginners.

💬 How do you approach professional development and continuous learning to enhance your skills and stay relevant in your industry?

Jacqueline Ndjib: To approach professional development and continuous learning, I actively seek opportunities to enhance my skills. Networking with peers and mentors offers valuable insights and keeps me updated on emerging developments. I also make it a habit to seek feedback on how to refine specific skills, ensuring that I am continuously growing.

💬 Can you discuss any significant achievements or accomplishments in your career that you are particularly proud of and what you learned from those experiences?

Jacqueline Ndjib: One of my proudest career achievements was winning an award for an in-person activation campaign called "The Living Portrait" for Citizens. It was my first experience in the activation space, and I quickly fell in love with the process and the results. Seeing the physical activation and witnessing the genuine reactions from people made all the effort worthwhile. From this experience, I learned the value of exploring new areas and discovered that embracing new opportunities can lead to unexpected passions. I also realized the importance of always being open to new challenges!

💬 How do you balance your career ambitions with other aspects of your life, such as family, hobbies, and personal well-being?

Jacqueline Ndjib: To balance career ambitions with family, hobbies, and personal well-being, it’s essential to prioritize self-care. Delivering your best work requires being well-rested and not running on empty. This involves knowing when to say no, prioritizing mental health, and understanding your limits. While it can be challenging to avoid becoming consumed by work, I’ve found that focusing on different aspects of life and having diverse outlets often naturally leads to better work outcomes.

Jacqueline Ndjib: My best recommendation is to connect with people both within and outside the industries you're interested in. You never know where you might find an "aha" moment or valuable insights. LinkedIn is a great tool for this, allowing you to send polite requests and ask honest questions. Additionally, joining industry-specific groups can help you meet like-minded professionals who can offer visibility into their day-to-day experiences and share opportunities.
